Shadetree,
Sorry about not making race this month. Maybe next month.
Thanks for help keep the road safe. As you know Kinston was hit pretty hard with the ice. It's important for emergency vehicles, and line trucks to be able to get where they need.
I understand when work calls beyond the normal work schedule. I left home about 5am Saturday for the office to help manage the electric power outages. Fortunately, I'm not out in the weather as much as the linemen. They call us the carpet walkers, but it is extremely stressful dealing with folks when their lights are out. I finally crawled in bed this morning at 8:30. It's getting tough on this old man.

Glenn asks...
so did the new axles help or did you go a whole new route...
Yes, it currently has your axles.

Jim, For the ones I made, I mixed some white embers glue and water together for a paste like mixture. I applied 2-3 coats with a small paint brush. The last coat was mostly embers. After each one dried, I sanded lightly with some 600 sandpaper. I have them primed, and will be applying paint when it drys out and this tropical storm passes.
I'm sorry, but I suffer from "c r c", can't remember crap and I can't give credit to where I read idea. Maybe others can provide additional input or ideas. Good luck.

Carolina, Congrats on your smoking performance!! I knew I should have steered my pure stocker (wd-40) a little more to the rail while testing at your barn. One bad run can ruin your average. On the positive side, it was still a sub 3!! I'm hopeful there is a little more in her. ;D Thanks again for your advice and willingness to let me test on your track. Ed

Glenn and David, I'm sorry to hear about your loss. May God's grace and love shine upon your families during this difficult time. I know you both had a special love and relationship with your father. I'm sure he will be missed. We will keep your families in our prayers and thoughts.

wellerracing,
I'm certainly not an expert (still on a steep learning curve) on krytox as I have too recently converted to oil from graphite. I was just tired of breathing hobe lube when I worked in my shop. My daughter thought I was playing with her glitter when I came in the house with graphite all over my clothes.
At first I tried to clean graphite wheels and convert to oil with very poor results. I guess I was trying to keep the variables to a minimum. As Insupsense mentioned, you have to keep the graphite wheels and oil prepared wheels separate. Also, the bore treatment for oil wheels is more critical with regard to polishing.
Others may/will provide additional input. Good luck with conversion.

Carolina, I'm assuming you are talking about Jewkes "old wheels". I got to figure what to do with my inventory of approximately 200 virgin old bsa style wheels? I have several sets of about every mold number. I guess I could glue them together and make spacers and raise my track off the floor. ;D
