Can you share a pic of what the wheel looks like, after removing the extra step ?

Our district will not even allow the early version colored wheels until they're available in the kits. So how do they handle a scout that buys a replacement set of wheels? The replacement wheel kits (black) now come in the new mold if ordered online. Our district expects the official kit that's handed out by the local pack to be used. No replacement parts are supposed to be used. Do they enforce it, yes and no. They haven't been able to enforce it for the black BSA wheels but obviously they have for the colored BSA wheels as the only way to get them is outside the kit.

Well I bought the kit and a hole lot more, my boy wanted blue wheels so we got blue wheels and thats why we got accused of cheating. What happened to you is the same reason why our district does not allow replacement parts. It was explained to me this past season that too many parents who build a car using only the contents of the official kit would complain at the sight of colored wheels being used.

Glen, can you tell me what the wheel diameter of the new bsa wheels are after you have prepped them. Our council has a min. diameter of 1.18 inches.

yep, that is exactly what I was talking about Traveler. The kits that inlcuded the new wheels had that same type of stamping on that side of the box that read "6080NI". I was in our local scout shop here in Kinston N.C. & saw the pwd kits with the same stamping on it; the kits we used to use was mostly yellow that was 2 years ago sense we raced in Cub Scouts; these new kit's box is mostly blue

Did Carolina ever run the new wheels without making any modification to the double step? Our pack rules state that the wheel cannot be modified in any way. I was hoping to find out how much speed is lost because of the double step. If anyone has tested the new wheels without removing the double step I would love to hear the results.

Scruffy, I haven't ran any that way yet but I do believe Glenn has ran a few cars with the new wheels that still have the step in them. Maybe he will chime in. I do believe he said it didn't slow performance that much.

Scruffy21 racing I don't think it would make much difference in a scout level race. If the wheels cannot be modified to remove the step, any speed gains would be moot anyway since everyone would have the double step.

Hey Scruffy21 Scruffy, The pure stock that I'm running this weekend at PDDR, has wheels that are lightly sanded, with dia. of 1.1845 and the step is still intact. We'll see, if it can run with the big dogs? ? Ca$h Racing
