Here's mine.....I decided to go with a classic look for my '55. The good news is...it's just about completed. The bad news is...it's dog slow. The more good news is...I've got a month to tune it. Now, mind you I just got a track and timer, so I don't know how the times compare to PDDR yet, but its consitently running about a 3.010. Those are good solid runs with no wobble. If I try to take some steer out of it, it's all over the board. I had two magical runs of 2.993 and 2.997.....but the same setup put it in the 3.040 range when it would start to wobble....ouch. Hopefully Carolina will chime in with what he is getting for his shoebox entry when he is testing. (since he is the current man to beat in the slammers (I know the Jewkes boys like to shock us all with the times they get and not reveal anything until race night )) I hope for my sake that the Chevys are just slower because of their shape. Anyway here are the pics....I haven't thought of a name yet...any suggestions?

Great looking car ZeeZob! I know what you mean about these shoe box cars. I actually drove a '57 Chevy Belair 2 Dr. Hardtop to high school. The car was wicked fast but couldn't handle a corner and boy did it suck the gas. I still have it though it is in disrepair. One day, I'll restore it again. Plans are for a F.I. 502 with an auto trans and painted Turquoise with a White top. But thats another story for another day. Here is what I plan on entering for the next Door Slammer race. Just ordered it so should have it in a couple of days. I always have liked Coddingtons stuff. So this build will be a tribute to him. May he rest in peace.

these classic cars are getting really hard to find. i got the word out and through my brothers cousins sisters wifes mothers daughter had a friend of his fathers son gave me a tip of where i can find a beautiful car for the right price. well it turned out she was a bit rough around the edges but i got her loaded up on the trailer with all the parts and took her home. it will take some time to get her ready to race but here are some pics that i took.

I believe it's because of the 8" length rule and some of the noses on these cars do not fit on the starting rod very well.

why do door slammrs have that thing sticking out in front. and is it required you can go u to 8 inches... if the car body does not make the 8 inch mark then you can add a stick to achieve the length... if the car body is 8 inches or more then you can not add the stick... the chargers last month where longer than 8 inches so there where no sticks...

why do door slammrs have that thing sticking out in front. and is it required If you are under the 8" length, you add it to the front of the car to bring it to 8". Adding it to the front puts the weight farther up the hill at the start.

in the glove box i found the registration for her, but the strange thing was instead of a vin number, she has a name...... christina, and what was even stranger was it included her family tree, and apparently she is related to a 58 plymouth fury, "most likely by marriage" named christine. when i woke up the next morning i found that some work had been done on the old girl, and would you believe that the radio still works, but it only plays 50s music. very bizzare, must be nothing, im sure nothing to worry about. but here are some pics of how i found her this morning. disclaimer - if you have no idea what i am talking about, then you are too young and should go back to watching the smurfs.
