Is there a site to look at how the ranking system is going to work?

How is the ranking system going to work? Is this something for just your races LA or something that is going to combine all leagues. What will be the deciding factors to determine the rakings.

I think the simplest thing to do is have those other builders send cars to PDDR and/or East Coast.

Evolution? Why is it the majority of your post deal with: - Edge products are not necessary - Edge products cost to much for you - PDDR racing rules are not fair - PDDR does not allow the type of car you want to race (even though you don't race) - You just don't agree with how something is being done - Crying that the PDDR is not fair with consideration to other leagues You do realize if you do not like the way the Jewkes run this league you do not have to participate and or read what takes place here. Turn the radio station if you are offended by the type of music they are playing, but do not alway complain. Our car was the fastest car at the All State Pinewood Grand Prix this year, should the Pinewood National Rankings take that into consideration? I think it is really unfair if they do not The is a set of criteria LA Sound has established for this ranking and they seem quite fair. IF a proxy league wishes to have a track that is CONSISTENTLY set up to the same specs each and every time, they too can be considered into the results. However, if a league for example chooses to use a slope of 30 degree to give the impression their league cars are faster then other, well then that is not fair. The times will appear faster, but are they?? NO. It seems the PDDR is open to all builders to attend live each and every race and/or they can proxy send their cars in as well. The PDDR numbers consitently show there is extreme interest in the way the Jewkes run this league, the number of cars and builder participation more then prove this. My family and I do not post here very often, however seeing adults such as yourself who constantly cry over the injustice of this, that or the next thing gets very old. It seems you have plenty of time to build cars to sell on ebay, as well as plenty of time to constantly be on the many web forums related to pinewood derby. I might suggest you take your energy and apply it somewhere more constructive. It appears no one here cares how fast or how slow your car is, so buck up and send in a car. But quit the woe is me and others act. I apologize to the members if my post is out of line, as I am not trying to cause fighting. I would understand if my post were to be deleted. I agree, it is time to put up or shut up.... mail a car in To be the best you have to race with the best.

I guess I'll chime in since I opened this can of worms. I did my research and decided this was a great place to run my cars. I feel welcome and I'm not intemidated by the caliber of builders who race at PDDR. I know that by running my car here I'm going to compete against the best and learn from the best. I don't understand why anyone who has any skill in this sport would not run on the PDDR track at least one time. You have a family that has 30+ years of experience in the sport running a top notch league. If you don't like how they are trying to organize a ranking system just go buy a track and start your own league...it's America baby.

I am sorry I do not agree with this. It would make this very dependant of those leagues. This also means you would be excluding several builders that are very good builders and one that I believe to be the best in the nation. How do you make a national champ from two different leagues? It is based on a one run system, whoever has the fastest one run pass? How can you truly crown someone a national champion if you know that there is someone that is a better builder that just does not run in those two leagues. I think a race like Bluegrass would be a better way to crown a national champ. A race once a year that brings racers from all leagues together. I am not saying that it needs to be Bluegrass, but it is a race that brings in racers from all leagues. I know that I am not a national champ in any class in any league, but I believe that this would be a better way. Evolution.......... Don't go and run away, your more than welcome to come and race here and anyone else that wants to... In the heat of competition people tend to throw words and people take them wrong sometimes.... Your not getting put out by anyone or not welcome... you are welcome to race... Who in your opinion is the best in the Nation? And why? Did you see the results of last years Bluegrass ? Did you see the results of 2007 Lima Land Open? Both once a year National races that all three of the leagues builders entered.... Did you find your person on the list at PDDR winning here? Let us all know who is the best builder in the Nation.... and please explain your reason or statisic's for your conclusion. I'm sure everyone will like to know who this builder is...

In the heat of competition people tend to throw words and people take them wrong sometimes.... Your not getting put out by anyone or not welcome... you are welcome to race... Evolution, sometimes the words come off a little strong in certain venues of communication such as forums and email. It is hard to see the persons intentions, what he is really saying without looking them eye to eye. Having said that, I do not want you or any other builder to be turned off by what I or anyone else has said. What we are trying to say to you is this, actions speak louder than words. I don't want you to "shut up" I want you to put you car on the track. I want you to invite your friends, who you think are the best. Let your cars do the talking for a while. Once you prove yourself here that you have good intentions, then you will have a better chance at changing some of the things that you do not like about this league. I am grateful for all the builders here at this league who have the guts to mail in a car. Some know that their cars are not fast enough yet, but choose to mail them anyway. That is where I started, at the bottom. I have the up most respect for these builders.

This is from a complete noob here on the this site. Heck, the first car I sent in got DQ'd. ;D. The site and the builder here rock. Does the national ranking even matter? We all have a love or strong liking for this hobby/ obsession. We wouldn't be building them and sending them in to race, if it wasn't that way. I highly doubt any of the top builders, or up and coming builders are building a car in the hopes to be on the short list of the national ranking. The thrill of the race and seeing your car run, is all that it is about. Kudos to the fast builders out there who crankout faster and faster cars, each race. It gives us turtle racers something to strive for. Hopefully other builders in the country will see that the people here racing at PDDR, care more about advancing this hobby, than being number #1 on some list. I for one have seen this unselfish friendship be displayed, time and time again. It rather refreshing to be part of a group that cares more about the group, than their own advancement. I'm proud to say that I am a member of PDDR, even if my cars run in slow motion compared to many here. Nightmare aka "Pand J Racing"

Nightmare,
I too like to advance the sport/ hobby. I have spent many of my nights helping children in my garage to build cars. I do like the idea of a national ranking system and do not think it would hurt anyone. It is for fun and this might be another way to promote the sport. I do not feel I would even be in the top ten on that list. Also I do not even feel I could win the turtle race, which was awesome. I liked watching that race.
A1nogoslo,
I have seen the results from those races and yes you guys over at PDDR are great racers. I believe that two of the top three spots on that list would be held by PDDR members. I do not wish to throw anyones name out as this was not my goal in my original post. I again just wanted to offer my thoughts to help, not to create a problem. I don't really care who would hold the race for a national Championship, but I thought that it woud be a better way. It was a thought and now I have spent more time defending my thoughts then it was worth over here.
Cecil,
I like racing these little cars and will be racing at two races this month. Please do not take this wrong, but I feel that no one should have to prove themselves at this sport. This sport should be about having fun and helping other to do their best. I got started in this sport/ hobby to spend time with my son and to this day that is what it is about for me. I enjoy my time making these cars and I really don't care that much about racing them. I do enjoy the live racing more then the proxy racing as I enjoy meeting people with similiar interests. I believe that I have come over to this forum and offered advise for people and offered my thoughts to help Pinewood racing. I guess it does not really matter to me if people don't care for my thoughts on subjects, but it does matter to me that someone might think that I was causing problems or trying to hurt the sport.

Evolution,
Don't be turned off by Proxy Racing, there is a live chat or a text chat during the race. PDDR is a fun group, I usually pic up some good tips during the race. Anyway I'm glad you have a reason for building and I hope you continue to have fun.

LA,
I can say that I really do not care about the racing of these cars. I enjoy the building, painting, and time with my son. I have made many many cars and some never even get wheels put on them. It is a hobby and a way to teach my son different things. I never said I did not want to win when I race. I do want to win when I race.
I never thought that you were taking shots at other leagues. I understand that you guys leave your tracks set up all the time, so do I. So are you saying that you will take a car sent into you and race it on your track, what cost would there be for someone to do that. How is it going to work? Is it going to be an average of runs or a single run? That was one of my original questions.
I still think a national event would be better. I never stated that it needs to be Bluegrass. It could be Lima, an event at your place or out in Utah. I think it would need to be a single event. It was just my thought on the subject. I was not attacking anyone and I do reconize that you are trying to make something happen. I just offered my thoughts on it. Whatever way you go with it I wish you the best of luck.

WOW I GO ON VACATION AND MISS THIS... WELL LETS START RIGHT HERE...I am sorry I do not agree with this. It would make this very dependant of those leagues.
YES YOU ARE RIGHT ON THIS ONE IT WOULD MAKE THIS DEPENDANT ON PDDR AND EAST COAST...
This also means you would be excluding several builders that are very good builders NOW HOW WOULD WE EXCLUDING SEVERAL BUILDERS, ANYONE IS WELCOME TO SEND A CAR IN OR COME LIVE.
and one that I believe to be the best in the nation.
WHO IS THIS YOU ARE SPEAKING OF, I REMEMBER GOING TO 2006, 2007, 2008 MAJOR NATIONAL RACES AND COMING HOME WITH 1ST PLACE TROPHIES IN PURE STOCK, STOCK, PRO STOCK, MOD, SUPER MOD. DID I MISS A RACE AGAINST THE BEST OF THE BEST... 2006 I BEAT OUT WARP SPEED HIM SELF AND HAVE NOT SEEN HIM RACE AGAIN. 2007 FRED WHEELER WAS BEAT OUT AS WELL AND HAS NOT RACED AGAIN. PRO QUEST HAS BEEN THERE IN 2007 AND 2008 AND I DID NOT SEE HIM GET A 1ST PLACE TROPHY.
How do you make a national champ from two different leagues? YOU DO NOT, THAT IS WHY WE HAVE STARTED IT...
It is based on a one run system, whoever has the fastest one run pass?
IT WILL HAVE FASTEST PASS AND FASTEST AVE.
How can you truly crown someone a national champion if you know that there is someone that is a better builder that just does not run in those two leagues.
IT LOOKS LIKE THE BUILDER WHO WOULD LIKE TO BE ON THE NATIONAL RANKING BETTER SEND IN A CAR OR SHOW UP LIVE AND RACE... I HAD TO SHOW UP OR SHUT UP... I HAVE SPENT 1000'S OF DOLLARS TO PROVE MY SELF, SO IF SOMEONE WANTS A SHOT AT THE TITLE THEN THEY CAN COME HERE... I DO NOT NEED TO PROVE MY SELF ANYMORE...
I think a race like Bluegrass would be a better way to crown a national champ. A race once a year that brings racers from all leagues together. I am not saying that it needs to be Bluegrass, but it is a race that brings in racers from all leagues.
I THINK THE RACE AT BLUE GRASS IS NOT THE PLACE. THE TRACK CONDITION COULD BE POOR. THE ANGLE OF THE TRACK COULD BE SET DIFFERENT, THE 3 LAST NATIONAL RACES YOU COULD NEVER HAVE A TRACK RECORD BECAUSE OF THE TRACK BEING SET UP DIFFERENT EVERY TIME, THE ONLY THING YOU GET OUT OF IT IS THE FASTEST BUILDER, NO TRACK RECORDS CAN BE RECORDED.... I know that I am not a national champ in any class in any league, but I believe that this would be a better way.
I RESPECT YOUR OPINION BUT WE HAVE BEEN DOING THIS A LONG TIME AND THIS IS THE WAY WE ARE GOING TO DO IT. THE DOOR IS OPEN, ANYONE IS WELCOME TO RACE THE BEST OF THE BEST, LET ME KNOW IF YOU OR ANYONE WOULD LIKE A SHOT AT THE TITLE AND I WILL BE READY...
