I was pretty impressed with that primer.... my first time using it... I probably not the last time either.... I would recommend it highly to use.... beats cracking open the big gun when your in a hurry... My big air compressor is down so I haven't been able to paint for a while... I couldn't take it any more...so I went and bought some cans <-------- ;D ;D ;D Painted the whole car in a 3 hour time period... Thats with dry times... Same color as your car HillBilly, Candy Red on the top side with Darker Sides and the bottom of the car, Two Tone.... Also if anyone wants a pretty good Candy Coat Paint job... Dupli-color has a real nice one... It's the MetalCast (Anodized Surface Color System) They have Red, Blue, Green, Gold, Purple, and MetalColor... You buy the Ground Coat which is Silver, then you buy your choice of color... If you use the Grey primer then the Silver covers with a very light coat... Don't need to put on much of the Silver just cover the car evenly... Then let it dry 30 minutes... Then apply the Candy color.. The Candy Colors dry Extremely Fast , so you can keep spraying the color coat until you achieve even color and High Gloss... No need to Clear Coat, this stuff shines pretty good....

glad you like it. It's a great inexpensive way to get a nice finish. We used some of the primers for our pack derby workshop and everyones cars turned out a lot better this year. If you have more time to let the primer coats dry before sanding them it will shrink a lot more and the final paint job will look a little smooooooother. Candy Apple is one of my favorite colors. I use it more than anyother color in my collection.

I found the white today, but NOT in the HIGH BUILD formula...does it exist, and if not, is the "plain" white Primer by duplicolor good also? Thanks RC

I just wanted to say hi. I am new to the boards and look forward to sending in a pure stock car soon. I can't tell you all that I have learned so far by reading the boards and asking some general questions. I have gotten quick responses to my inquiries and people couldn't have been nicer. I am sure I will be asking a lot of questions as I just recently got back into Pinewood Derby because of my nephew. Please forgive me if I sound ignorant at times, but I just want to learn as much as I can and have fun building my cars.
Anyway, just wanted to say I picked up two cans of the DupliColor primer at Advanced Auto today.

I haven't used the kind you bought but I'm sure it'll work fine. The white primer has a tendancy to be transparent. The grey works the best IMO. Anyway, just wanted to say I picked up two cans of the DupliColor primer at Advanced Auto today. Welcome to PDDR and good luck with your primer. . . Prime On!
