Ok, need some help/suggestions.. this is kinda last minute but I have about 5 days to build a pure stock. The only thing is it has to have all 4 wheels touching the track. I have never built a car with all 4 wheels touching the track before so here is my questions: Should I rail ride or go for straight? Is railriding with 4 wheels basically the same as with 3 touching? The rules say must have 4 wheels and they all must contact the track..should I try to raise one so it is just barely touching the track? Anyone have experience with running 4 touching that can give any suggestions or advise or something I am missing? Anything would be appreciated...

We have to build our pack cars this way.We set ours up to rail ride after we ran in the pack races as straight runners, the railrider setup was faster. We also ran as railrider with both the DF and NDF and found the NDF as the contact wheel to be a bit faster. We did not set it up for extremely light setup on one front wheel as our pack rules don't allow for any wheel mods,Figured if the wheel had to touch track at all that the damage was already done.If you can run lightened wheels I may consider going for a just touching 4th wheel.Hope some of this helps.

Thanks KOH.. when you set up for railriding, did you still steer with just one front wheel? Or do you have to do anything different...Sorry for the ignorance but as I said, I have zero experience with 4 on the floor... Also, do you have any sense of how much slower a four wheeler is compared to a 3 wheeler on the same track? few thousanths? Few hundreths??? Thanks for your help.. Oh, by the way..can't lightlen the wheels..It is a Pure Stock..

If you can't lighten wheels I would just shoot for 4 firmly planted, you won't get it so it doesn't matter. When you start aligning you need to determine which wheel is dominant. With all 4 wheels on the car gently press down in center of car between front wheel, one of the axles should give some. The side that has the play is NDF,you want to align the car first with this wheel. This is done best with the DF off the car, after you have the NDF aligned install the Df and realign to same as NDF.We saw abot .03 increase raising a wheel.Hope this helps.

Should I try to raise one so it is just barely touching the track? KOH's advice is dead-on............a 4-wheeled RH is the opposite of a 3-wheeler regarding the wheel that touches the rail. ..........cant the wheels to make up some of time you lose with 4 wheels down.

KOH, your advise was greatly appreciated, thanks for the chat.... Joker, thanks for your input as well...
I threw together a car and so far it runs about .03-.04 slower than my pure stocks that are 3 wheelers. I guess that is not bad. It does have a little wiggle but I think that is because of my lack of experience aligning a 4 wheeler. Also I think my steer is a bit to hard but I'm afraid to fool with it too much as I only have another day or 2 to get it ready.
