I need some feedback for the Pure Stock race times. Tye Racing and Noah GoFAst Racing ran 18.5ish for the totals.. Since we are new guys, made our own wheels, axles, etc,,, are those descent times or just plain terrible? Obv, their is much room for improvement which is why we joined PDDR (and the fact my son went wild when we found this site).

We have already ordered some Pure Stocker wheels for the April races.

Tye, I don't think the times are terrible at all, especially for your first race. I ran my first Pure Stock race 6 months ago and my average time was 3.104. Last night my average time was 3.048
Like you said, you are here to have fun and learn how to make your car go faster. Just being involved here and sending in cars will get you to make faster cars.

Guess what I was doing last night at 3 am . . . yup yup! Taking advantage of the time without Sky's car here to get some work done on my car. I know what'll happen when his gets back

pony: Don't over heat the axle. I did that once too and I had to resand the axle. Two seconds of the flame is all I did. I hold the axle in the drill chuck, heat it then immediately spin it against the silly putty. I then wipe the axle down by hand. Feb 23, 2018 22:02:58 GMT -7

pony: I do the same technique with the hard ski waxes which I use a lot. You can heat the axle or if you don't want to use the heat just hold the hard ski wax against the spinning axle. Use high speed. The ski wax transfers by friction and the heat of the spin. Feb 23, 2018 22:06:02 GMT -7

pony: Remember though you still need some form of silicone on the axle after the ski wax. Plastics on steel always needs silicone. I don't have the technical know how to do a video and post it. It's the same process as polishing compounds and polishing wheels. Feb 23, 2018 22:09:47 GMT -7

pony: In everyday Cub scout races the Jig or the Max-Pro is good enough. The Silly Putty was only .001 faster. If the Silly Putty feels old and dried out I'd try to get some more and just use the heat of the spinning axle to get it to transfer over to the axle. Feb 23, 2018 23:45:42 GMT -7
