We used to run sprint cars and supermodifieds on pavement and the sprint cars especially used to carry the left front through the turns so it just seems natural to me to carry the left front.

the rules say 4 wheels. how about 3 wheels mounted on 3 corners of car and 4th wheel mounted on top of car , like a spare tire?? no problem with spin up or having 4th wheel hitting rail-- just a thought - kinda stretching the rules to the max. I've thought of that too, seems to make sense, especially if it's aligned to ride the rail. Other than that, I know it slows things down if it hits but sometimes on a car that's got a slippery front end it might be the only thing holding the car on the track. I don't know for sure though.

Not quite what you were talking about, but.............Railrolling is a concept Warthog & I have been playing around with since last year. Seems like a good idea, but it's tough to keep the car on the rail. Warthog has only ran 4x4 as a standard 3 wheel RH. Jackpot got switched also - (new wheels for this month - so should run better)

good golly guys I see you took the 3 wheel to a different level. how did those 2 cars perform. They look funny as all heck but if they are fast, who cares?? I may have to build such a beast.

I'll be runing the 4x4 car as a rail roller this month. The times are not as good as I wanted but I think that this concept might work with the right setup. It gives you one more wheel to align though .

i have the RF wheel dominant, when i have the car tuned in should the RF look like it is pointed more to the left?
i could not get it to roll straight with the wheel square, so i kept angling to get the str roll, but the wheel looks like it is really out of alignment pointing to the left.
am i nuts, or should it be angled to the left a little.

It probably just looks like it is pointing way left.If you are trying to get the car to roll straight what matters is that all the axles are paralel to one another. What would probably be more important is what are the wheels doing on the axles as the car starts to roll, assuming you are using an alignment board to set your car up.You could have the rear of the car steering the car to the right and you are trying to counteract this by applying an excessive amount of steer in the front wheel. If you have the car rolling straight now,set it up on the board with all the wheels pulled out to the axle heads and note what the wheels do in their first few revolutions. Then do the same thing with the wheels pushed all the way in to the body of the car. Then you should go thru these same procedures with the car pointing backwards down the board. This info comes out of stan popes alignment section of his online book.
