Here's the news everyone has been waiting for! And we've made it very simple:
The rules for the Mid-America Pro Class = Stock Class !!!
Why did we choose the Stock Rules? Here’s the rationale that went into this decision: • The Pro Class needed to allow more modifications than the Scout/Adult rules do • Encourage league racer participation by making our Pro rules standard with the league rules so no one has to build a unique car just for the Mid-America race. • Pick a class/division of league rules that are as equal as possible to all leagues
The Stock rules from all league's were a perfect fit! As you’ve probably already read in previous posts above, on Thursday just last week was the first planning committee meeting and we got unanimous approval from the committee to proceed with our plan for the Pro Division! OK, now that I’ve explained that much, perhaps you want to know what is my involvement with the race? After the race last year Greg (Xanthrum) asked me if I would participate on the planning committee and specifically if I would help promote a new Pro Division. The Pro class would focus on getting more involved with the leagues and hopefully get more participation from the league racers. Besides taking the race to the next level, it’s a win-win relationship for everyone: The kids (and parents) get to watch the fastest cars in the world and not only that, they can build for the race and challenge the pros head to head! It’s a real world Pro’s Vs Joe’s competition. I expect the kids (and parents) to be inspired and wowed by the league cars. I’m getting fired up just thinking about it. There are more advantages of course, but if that isn’t enough to motivate you let me know and I’ll post more!
OK, there is going to be a lot of info posted this next week! First let me say the rules are not posted to the Mid-Am website yet. However this post is enough to get you building. I have combined all the leagues’ rules into one version, but if you build to any of the league rules (Stock Division, Street Pro, Stock, etc…) your car will be legal. Lastly, I’ll say that everything you expect from the league races will be duplicated and done professionally at the Mid-America Pinewood Derby race: The race will be broadcast live on the web (I already tested livestream from the event location), photos, professional handling of cars, staging… Stay Tuned all the details are coming fast! And if you have any questions, post them here, PM me, or email me!
