can anyone help? I have wasted about ten wheels trying to sand off the mold marks. I think I have mastered hub coning, but I can't get the sanding right. I have bought my wheels from max-vel for the two races I have been in so far, but I feel like I should be prepping the wheels and axles myself. any help guys?

I mount a wheel in a mandrel and sand with a file that has a strip of 600 grit sandpaper glued on one side.I also use the file (gently) to help keep it level. If you have a digital scale, you can sand and file until you get the desired weight.Make sure you don't go too fast with the drill or too hard with the sandpaper so you don't melt the wheel ;)That's the way I have done it,maybe someone else has a better way.Hope it helps! I forgot to add that you can smooth them down with finer grit sandpaper, and Mothers plastic polish.

I use a lathe but I also have to use the slowest speed to do any wheel shaping or sanding.
