Can someone tell me what the finished diameter of these wheels will be.I know that there is a substantial size difference in the different wheel molds.what I am looking for is wheel that when finished will measure at least 1.190" Thanks for any replys KOH Welcome King of Hearts... I'm holding a fresh set of Jewkes wonder wheels- Pure Stockr's. The fancy-smancy digital vernier calipers say: (drum roll please) 1.175" All 4 are mold number 5 and are absolutely beautifully machined. Lateral run-out is less than my old dial -type gage can measure!! I just checked 6 of the coveted #12 mold raw wheels and they range from: 1.197 to 1.191 Just curious, KOH why is 1.190 so important? Doesn't look like .006 would clean up the mold mark....

Not allowing you to remove mold marks on the tread of the wheel is just archaic! I suppose all cars should run on square wheels too huh?? Well, tune that car up well and contact the winners of the race and let them see why they are actually in 2nd and not 1st. Then pack that car up and let your boy run here at the PDDR. Give a few of the old FARTS a run for their pine dust!! Oh yea I think it would be okay for you to enter a car as well, and for shame purposes you might want to pick a different division then your sons smoker!!
Who you callin an OLD FART?shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!

What I was planning on doing was showing up at their next derby committee meeting (as our pack is hosting both the districts and then the council race)and asking Mr.Know It All if these will be legal ,and then hitting him the fact that he just approved a set of machined wheels for my sons car!!! I didn't want the wheels to have any other modifications but if you went out of your way to make them I will take them.Let me know how you would like to handle payment for them.I Can go ahead and place an order from your site if that will be easiest. Thanks for your help KOH I think I will get a set of the ESS's also

Thanks for the tip Altered, We do dress the face of the hub and even though our rules state no other wheel modifications than lightly sanding the tread surface to remove mold marks my son and i have agreed that most wheel inner wheel hubs have a raised area we consider mold imperfections so we lightly sand them down too, sometimes they end up with what Glenn might call a taper ;D
As far as ordering wheels I wanted some way for Glenn to recognize it was me to make sure I got the right ones.

Why have rules that you can't enforce and that would force some people to have to compete against such rules instead of other car builders. Trying to write rules that are intended to keep things fair without having any Way to enforce is crazy and archaic.

"But that's the way we've always done it" Don't think you'll find that attitude 'round this forum. 2FAST & A1 are some of the most innovative builders in Pinewood. The creative 'juices' flowing from the members of PDDR gave me the confidence to try new things, and look at the building process with a 'why not' instead of 'why try' mentality
