The attached photo is a car body that I have hollowed out. The reason why there is wood fill in the bottom is because the router bit dropped out of the drill press and made a little bugger. The trap door is made from sugar pine as well as the body. I know that is faster to drill, the axle slots than to shim, but right now I have not found a way to make the drill bit go in the direction that I want. After setting up the table the drill always walks around no matter how hard I try to get it. Straight. The pine door that I plan on gluing back in place is .8 inches thick. The sides of the car are .15 inches thick. And .4 inches tall. If I JB weld that door in place, will the sides and bottom hold up? The poured lead weight behind the axle weighs 1.27 ounces. The entire car body with only bottom paint to seal the rear lead is a total of 2.24. I know that is t close to what you shoot for/ But can this work? Did I miss something? One more thing. When people send there cars is for a proxi race do they shoot for 5.09 ounces? Hubby has some ansy calibration weights. And says that I should just go 5.00 because you never know if you can play with that .1 ounces. I don’t plan on closing the door until after painting and tuning. Attachments:

i have been through the its too heavy panic before, and the solution is simple. just get the finished car to 4.98OZ. or better yet 141 grams. then use a small chunk of tungsten putty to bring it to 5.0xOZ. if it a touch heavy all that is needed is a pinch of the putty to be removed and you are good to go. i did this with my Pure Stock Old School last month. ___ has it in his shop and its really not that pricy. bri

I am not worried about hitting the weight; I can do that no problem. Glue lightens a little bit when it dries. I am worried about the door breaking on the stop section. I am also worried about the block twisting, after I tune it. This is going to be a proxy race. I live in NY that is a lot of USPS miles, time and temperature changes. UT? Mountains. This is a little piece of pine that hubby says likes to twist like a propeller all by itself!
