i spent a long time making sure this car was perfect, used the block, bought new micro-mark drill press, kick but paint job, good COG, rolled down a 4' table with about 1.5" of drift. everything looked good. diddnt have time to track test it. got to the race and it was a DOG!! i just found that my drill press table is .002 off from one side to the other. all of my holes are aimed slightly forward i named the car FLAPJACK, best paint job i ever did, it was hard to get a good pic of it but here it is. the paint is krylon X-metal i epoxied a .003 stainless steel shim over the wood and sprayed blue and the red over it. then 3 coats of krylon tripple thick glaze over that.

Brian,
Sorry to here about your car. I've have had this same experience many times. Too often I would scrap a car instead of trying to research why it was not fast. The good news is you have identified an issue. Maybe a day or two of out the box thinking may present a solution for speed. Did you have a chance to do some more testing on the steer? How about your prep process for the lubrication, oil or graphite? There may still be some speed hidden with the current set up. That is an extremely nice car by the way.

Brian,
Depending on how partial you are to those axles there may be a solution. Remove the rear axles and bend them the amount your axles holes are drilled forward. Then cut the K-Groove on the head of the axles. Re-install and adjust until they are straight. It would be worth a try to save such a nice car. Good luck!

thanks, i am going to bend the axles and see how it goes, it is an oil car and if i diddnt like the way it looked so much i would scrap it for parts and start over. trust me, the pics do not do it justice. i think i will send it in for next months race.

i figured out what went wrong with my axles, while i did use the Block, i being the manly man i am......did not read the directions.and rolled the Block instead of flipping it as you are supposed to and pigeon toed it . so, because of my negligence i probably ruined a excellent car(several actually) and wasted a ton of time. Thanks to ___ for straightening me out on it. so now that i know everything ...look out. ;D
