;D Finally we broke through the 3.0 barrier with our 4th attempt. Saturday was our towns 2 packs races & we set the FTD for both packs @ 2.9750 best & a 2.9930 avg.. We were thrilled! Here is the car, a vague rendition of Michael Scumachers Benetton Ford F1 car.
I also built a Jeep for my 4yr old daughter, it was cute but only alittle above mid pack, didn't expect much with the shortened wheelbase, if left to my own devices it would have looked like a sand or mud drag jeep with the front wheels pushed out ahead but the better half nudged me to stick with the cute factor.
Unfortunately the last 2 years we haven't won the best looking award (I think its a big conspiracy ) however they have all the kids come look at our cars & suggest everyone look them over. I could kind of understand it last year, so this year we toned things down, but evidently not enough. The 2 cars that did win this year were another brother sister team that we helped build & we painted for them so that is cool that they walked away with the trophies.
The red one was his & the blue one was the Blue Thunder monster truck.
Here is last years, a Chevy Blazer baja racer from the 70's. the only plastic on it was the grille & dash, the push bar & roll cage were tig welded aluminum & the wing was also aluminum.
2years ago we built a Candy Brandywine Countach, it ran pretty good, 3.0's. The only plastic on it was the nose wing. We walked away with the best looking trophy.
3yrs ago we built this Nissan GTP car, got rushed to finish it & upon reassembly I messed up & it didn't run when we needed it to, we were sick because we were expecting much more after it had eaten everything at the test night & we were more than 2oz's light, oh well we won the best looking award.
Thanks for looking & Thanks to MB & Jewkes products to help us break the 3.0 barrier.
