So for Christmas I'm thinking of building my wife an 18" x 8' table with a melamine/glass top that may have a slight tilt of perhaps 3 1/2" from one end to the other.
On the melamine I may also draw something that looks a bit like a palm tree where one branch "bends" 1" in 8 feet, then the next branch bends at 2" in 8 feet, etc.
Does anybody have any suggestions on how to draw these "branches"? How would I calculate and draw the proper curve?
Now I just may occasionally place a Pine car on this table to see whcih branch it follows. I could probably even tweak the front dominant wheel to follow whichever branch I choose. How do I know which one to pick? Ultimately I want the one that produces the quickest runs, correct? Do I choose the smallest drift that prevents wobbles? I understand each car may be different - I'm just not sure what indications to look for on my wifes new table.

Someone has a picture of John's (___'s) tuning table in one of these threads somewhere. Maybe it was in someone's personal Nationals video on youtube? Was it you Carolina? I forget... Anyway, that thing is sweet and it has all the different arcs drawn at different degrees... Maybe John can post a picture... I start at around 3-4" in 4 ft. and then tweak it less until I get my fastest runs and the car is stable..... then I tweak it for another hour til it runs really slow and then I ship it Thanks 5kids. Yes, I saw the video of John's. That is the inspiration for mine. Uh-hum, I mean my wifes table. I'm just not sure how the curves were calculated or drawn. It is VERY nice work. The other part is how to use. In the past I have used a four foot table and started with 4" of drift. I had no timer so I only looked at the the smallest drift that kept the car stable. Now I have a timer on my test track so I can check to see how steer effects my times. Is this the proper use of the tuning board? Anything else I should look for?

In Suspense did that. MB should be able to get you one made up. However a piece of removable tape along the bottom can be marked with various steers and do the same thing. Carolina Posted a Video of MBs Table...

nice job 5kids. I brought mine home from the glass shop Thursday - have got a chance to cut down my graphic ( I printed on 24" wide paper). As soon as lay the graphic under the glass I'll take a few pics and post.

A couple of pics of my new table. Right now I have it in the kids play room on saw horses. I still need to make legs for it.
