just one finger hurt - the skin from one is laying over on the other ripped down to the bone which you cant see because of blood but if it was a better pick you would be able to see the tendent. cell phone pics are limited 29 stitches later lets pray that the skin doesnt die

I`m sorry that happend. One positive thing is children heal better than adults. Ive had some horrible cuts and ripped skin and tendons on my hands before and I can hardly tell now due to the young age it happend at.

we took of the wrapping today and the skin color looks good. but there are 2 places where the flesh is sticking out far and looks as if it needs a couple of more stitches - so she is back at the hospital waiting to see a nurse now.

Wow, I am sorry to see that happen. Your daughter will be in my thoughts and prayers for sure. As someone that has had over 40 stitches in one hand, I can say I know the pain she is feeling.

I'm with you, Burpin. I've been in the ER with my Daughter too. Twice for stitches over the same eyebrow in a 1 year span. Seeing stitches in progress makes me nautious - even the pictures! Glad to hear she is doing well. Yea! skin color!

it was good we took her back to the ER. there were mistakes made the first time around. first we asked for pain killers and they gave her none. 2nd they didnt give her antibiotics. 3rd they didnt put her finger in a brace (they said if it had healed with her finger bent she wouldnt have been able to straighten it) 4rd they didnt tell us to do finger excersizes. 5th they put the wrapping directly on the wound making it stick when she pulled it off, very painful. 6th they didnt give us or even tell us to keep it dressed for 5 days.
its unbelievable the mistakes they made the first time in. we are really lucky we went back for more stitches that she didnt need.

Glad to hear shes doing better. I agree finger movement is crucial. My first hand operation the tendons stuck to the newly stitched area. If the tendons were exposed they have a tendancy to bond to the healing flesh. Finger exercises are critical as well as massaging the area to keep them from healing together. Did they send her to a hand specialist? If not I would definatley do that. Good luck with the recovery.
