Greetings from Oklahoma! jsut a bit about us, this is the first year we have participated in scouts and our first attempt at racing Derby Cars. we built and raced at the pack level before i found this website and boy did we miss out on the great tips! our car turned out very well and won the webelos bracket. then one of the front axles became bent, rubbing the wheel into the body and we finished 4th out of 4 for the overall title. I dont know if it was the abrupt stop at the end of the race or sabatoge that ruined the axle, but, we are repairing and preparing to go to the district meet in 2 weeks! Attachments:

During his races he was leading the pack by at least a car length. On a whim, we put all the weight in the rear of the car and I kinda-sorta filed the axles down a bit. but after reading all the tips on the boards, we should be even faster for districts!!! Attachments:

thanks for the tape tip and the sub 3 thread. . .We just got back from scouts and they said it is probably a wood track/double elimination race with appx 100 scouts per group. i think i might get started on a new car more towards the specs listed on the sub three page. is there a thread on wood vs aluminum track?

yeah i know the rules are the same, wondering if car setup is the same for both types of tracks, cars do seem a bit slower on the videos that i have watched on the wood tracks

However wood tracks are sometimes shorter than aluminum ones. The shorter the track the more aggressive you can get with the COM.
