Tuning?

I keep reading about people tuning their cars when they get them back. What is involved in tuning? Do you remove all wheels/axles and re-polish the axles some more? Because you noticed x occurring you know you need to move the weight forward; you know your alignment is causing you to run into the rail too aggressively because? Looking for some guidelines...

What do you look for in the 3 seconds? My guesses: 1. How far the car travels before going into the rail 2. How hard the car goes into the rail 3. At what point do the wiggles kick in

Hello... welcome and to PDDR Yes you can make changes to the car or re-polish/ cleaning of the axles, wheel bores or put some new ones on or readjust your weight. Also adjusting the steer of the car.... We provide a HD Super Slow Motion video for viewing your cars performance. This helps you study the car and can help you make proper adjustments. Some videos have the spectator view followed by the front Slow motion view. Pure Stock has both videos due to the allowed length you can use for youtube... 45+ cars require three 8+ minute video's for slow motion. So if you haven't watched any of these videos then we highly recommend doing so for your own advantage. Heres a link to the race day video section:pddr.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=buildersedge

Thanks. I have seen the videos, but what do you try to spot in the video? What characteristics will tell you what you need to do to improve your time?
For example, one race I saw the car went into the rail early and appeared to be running pretty straight. Once it came to the last 5 feet or so of the race it began to wiggle. Why?

Is the car you are refering to your car? There are a few reasons how this can happen.

You're not hijacking at all; instead you are providing a concrete example. You have seen how your car behaves in the video, now we are asking those more experienced what should one do to stop/reduce the wiggles near the finish?
Should one head to the rail within the first x feet of the race?
