Ugh, even the mold mark has to be present according to these rules. How do they enforce that with the new wheels?

Yep, you sure do have a huge problem with the new wheels as they come CONED.
You will want to contact whomever wrote those rules and/or will be enforcing them to let them know this fact if they are not aware of it.

I do think it is priceless to force them to only use scrap wood from the block to make any fenders and the like. Sounds like someone didn't win as a child (or adult) and wants to make sure they can now.

You can still drill the top of the grooves with the BLOCK. The rules say you shouldn't cant your axles - not cannot cant your axles. So this would be a judgement call. I say a slight cant is better than none. You can also get some steer by drilling the FDW at a tiny angle at the top of the groove. Some steer would be better than none. It doesn't say all 4 wheels have to touch the track. I would raise the non DOM wheel a tiny bit. Did you notice that the picture they provide on the wheel is lathed?! I don't know why you couldn't buy a set of PS Jewkes wheels with Jewkes stock BSA axles. Have the Jewkes put a groove in the axles too.

I am trying to find out who is in charge, but have to go through channels at the district and state levels. The coning rules I noticed right away...the groove in the axle I missed. That has always been illegal in the past.
I also noticed that the rules have been done since mid-November and were just posted...sigh.
On a brighter note, the open class rules are basically PDDR Stock class...mwhahahaha. Gonna have me some fun at state this year. Running against you guys definitely gives me an edge! ;D

Glenns right. You let kids insert their own axles and none of them be strait. All will have some cant positive and negative. They can't disqualify all the cars. I can just see the official say - Bring me that cheating 7 year old Johnny! Son, we disqualified your car because we see a slight rounding of one of your wheels and an axle was crooked. Look at MY sons' car. Now it's perfect and is the ONLY car that passed specs. Better luck next year....

I guessed right. The person in charge of the state derby doesn't even know that there are new wheels out or what they look like. He checked the ones at the local scout store and they were all the old ones so those are obviously the only ones out there...sigh...
