Hi, I was wandering what the step is for anyway, if it is a design flaw or a benefit. If you are using the axles from the kit, would the step clear the bad spot of the axle against the head. During polishing this spot is apparently hard to make round. Also if you dont taper the head would the step reduce friction against it? I`ve also noticed the step is out of round in relation to the bore. I`m guessing that the reason for the step is to help those who abide by strict pack rules and do not use aftermarket axles or wheels and dont have the ability or desire to groove or modify the axles other than polishing. Any thoughts....Thanx sooooo down4derby

To compensate for the bad axles and poor prep by parent/child teams. I would like to see new axles. Maybe the Jewkes 91 SGAs supplied in the box. Now that would rock.

It would have been cheaper to just of supplied better nails and keep the same wheels. I worked hard to get that sub 3 patch and I believe those will be a dime a dozen in 2010. Maybe a new sub 2.95 patch will show up in 2010? ;D

I agree. Maybe John and Glenn already have sub 2.9 Pure stock cars ready. That would make sense because they are selling 2.93 cars. These must be the slow ones! ;D

The cheapest thing would have been if they left them alone. ;D
