just wanted to know if blocking your track off the floor makes any difference. I see LA SOUNDS track is off the floor and also glenn and davids track is off the floor. Is there any advantages to this or just so you dont have to bend over. Also how important is polishing your track, does it make it faster or just nicer looking.

Do you have the leveling legs? Also how far out of level is your floor?

My track is on the floor, I don't know if raising makes a difference, but the Jewkes once said that when they raised their track, it seem to get just a little bit faster. As far as a polished track, I hope it makes a difference because now that the season is over, I have taken my track apart and I am currently polishing it. One thing I can tell you for sure is that when I ran on the un-polished track, little bits of aluminum would build up on the wheels after about 15 to 20 runs and I would have to clean the wheels off. After cleaning the wheels, the times would improve by .01 to .02 seconds. Hopefully polishing the track will give me more runs between wheel cleanings.

I may be wrong but I believe the main reason for raising the track is for videoing the race & far as polishing the I think the cleaner the track the faster it is ;D

With leveling legs it would be fine to be on the floor. Without them your track would follow the floor or you would have to shim it. If your track is on concrete then seal the surface. Quickrete make a 2 part epoxy kit for about $100. I've used that stuff on a lot of jobs. I race a couple of times locally where the track is on tables. Those plastic ones with fold out legs. The track has no leveling legs. Needless to say the alignment is bad. They don't even clamp the sections together! It's a 42ft Besttrack even....
