My harbour freight cheapo just needs to be replaced. Any recommendation for reasonably priced drill press to drill those perfect axles holes? Seems like a lot of the inexpensive models have quite a bit of "wiggle". Thinking maybe a Delta DP300L?

Wow, the Proxxon is really small but from what I read looks like it's extremely accurate. Thanks for the info!

The XY table is very helpful. You need the drill bits from www.MB4hire.com as well and the 4" clamps from there if you do not already have them.... The big clamps on this press just dont work well.... The clamps are about the length onf a pinewood derby car. For sure less than one foot.

I got the little drill bit from MB, but i don't like it because it's so small and I'd have to cut the axles. I ordered a nice #44 from some place on the internet that's a little longer. With only 5 1/2" of clearance on the proxxon, that will be cutting it close I'd guess.

I use the high grade microlux from micro-mark.com they run them on sale some times you can get the high grade for the same price as the stander or cheaper

I don't have a drill press. I'd been useing a Bridgeport Mill at work but recently got transfered to a different area. I want the Proxxon and was wondering what chuck it comes with and can I use a rule on the table like Glenn does in the 30 years video to keep "The Block" lined up? I'm just wanting to get a good functional tool within budget. Thanks guys, 9DB It comes with multiple collets one of which is perfect for drilling axle holes. THe XY Table makes it more usuable however some on the forum use it without. If you have the XY table you for sure have a ruler like side to rest the block against...
