I've got a car body in which the axle holes were poorly drilled. Thoughts on whether I can fill the holes with bondo and redrill the holes? I'd hate to scrap the car and don't want to use shims if I don't have to.

I have used these small round wood dowels that you can get at a hobby or crafts store. They look like toothpicks, but without pointed ends. I have no idea what they are called, but they are slightly larger in diameter than toothpicks. Just install them in the bad holes with carpenters glue, let dry, sand smooth to the body, and redrill. If you can't find these "craft sticks", then see if you can find a round toothpick that will work- they do vary in size by brand. Good luck!

Once I got the BLOCK I redrilled all my axle holes. I simply cut toothpicks in half. Use another tooth pick to slime some 5 minute epoxy in your old holes. Then lightly slather some on the big end of the cut toothpick. Press the toothpick in and let set for about 30 minutes. Cut off the excess pick and redrill.

1/8th inch drill bit, 1/8inch wood dowel rod, cut to lenth, drill hole, wood rod will be tight, but no gluing required, sand smooth, redrill. ;D ditto... ;D

Thanks guys. I finally ordered the block, so I'll give the wooden dowels a try to get those holes fixed.

Just a quick follow-up. I drilled all my car body's with the 1/8 bit and filled w/ the same size dowel. I did add just a little bit of wood glue for good measure. Santa came to my house this week with a proxxon drill press and the block along with some Fullerton carbide drill bits and the new holes drilled nicely. I've got to get used to the Proxxon because I don't have the XY attachment...but the dowel trick worked like a charm
