I've only used this paint from the plastic squeeze bottles on lexan (plastic) radio control car bodies. Never seen it in a can but if it's the same paint I would only use it for lexan as designed. The paint is water based but I've used it with non water based paints. Here's an example. This is a lexan body I painted for my nephew a month ago. He told me the colors so I found him the best purple I could. ;D The white is Faskolor which I airbrushed (first time) first. I then spray painted the metallic purple and followed up with silver for backing. I next removed the paint mask and learned the importance of pulling the mask away from the paint. As you may notice, pulling towards the paint may lift the paint. I then spray painted the light blue and followed up with white for backing.
