What would be the optimum axle to bore clearance for wet and for dry? Anyone done any tests?

Acme,
I do not know from experience, but I have read numerous posts on this board (I think) and others that say .004 is optimum. I feel certain someone has tested this before.
I found a post by Beaker stating that tighter clearances work better with oil, but could not find numbers yet. I'll keep looking.

Then you have the 93sga SuperNail .091 shaft that goes to .093 where the wheel hub rides... this will give you the choice for speed and find out what will run you car the fastest... ;D " one size fits all " Depending on the car build, between .002 - .005 is what we like to use. That is why we made these two designs.

To me (slowest racer here) it would seem that the load of the wheel is the same weather you have grooves or not. So a non grooved axle would distribute the load more even on the axle. So why are the grooved axles faster? I know they must be or you wouldn't be using them but it's just a question that I have to ask.

Are the new axles grooved? And the 93"s aren't on the shopping page. Are they ready? ;D
