I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem, what causes it and how to fix it. I was tweaking the new Super Mod and I was really pleased with the times. However, I noticed just as soon as the pin drops the car drifts to the right and the guide on the left touches the rail. Then immediately it goes back to the left and the front wheel stays to the rail all the way down. I'm sure that initial rub of the guide on the rail is costing me a little time. If I could get it to stop it, this thing might run with the big boys. I have to stage the car with the front wheel touching the rail to get my fastest times. I've tried everything I can think and I can't make it stop.

This will dampen the blow to the track causing cars to immediately turn to the rail off the start. The pins are hooked to a spring and bouce off the bottom of the track when gate is released, even as much as touching the bottom of the car and accually moving the front end of the car one way or the other... it happnes so fast if not paying close attention you will never see it... Check that to see if this is causing the cars to jump... this happens much easier to cars with light weight front ends... We found this out by doing allot of tests when we set up the track for the first time... Don't have the problem any more. There are also staging tricks for extra speed
but that I will let you figure out...
Someday I will race you live again. Need the Edge on the Competition ;D

Thanks David. I have foam in place, but I'll double check to make sure it's not worn down and still ok.
Staging tricks you say, I'm going to have to watch you very closely next time we race together. ;D

I put a little more softer foam under there and it reduced the vibration from the start gate to nothing. I guess I didn't have enough foam or a soft enough foam. Also, a big thanks goes out to Lucky 13. He contacted me and said to check the rubber covering the starting pin. Since my track is set-up in the top of an old building, it gets pretty warm up there. The rubber was a little tacky. I took it off cleaned it and rubbed a good coat of graphite on it. Now it's not sticky. The car starts nice and striaght now, with no jumping around.
Thanks for the tips guys.
