Thought I would start this thread for folks to contribute tips to the those who are entering Pure Stock for the first time. With emphasis on including cost effective alternatives where possible... Feel free to participate in both asking and providing help.

One place to start would be a block of wood and eventually it is going to need holes for axles.

You can get into the pure stock class for $40.00 Go to MB4hire.com look at their kits. This one comes with speed axles. drilled block and Jewkes wheels and some lead. This way your tool purchases are to a minimum. That should be enough to easily beat me.

MB4hire is the place to go and that is a lot of stuff for $40.00. The nice thing to is that the block is precision drilled by by LA Sound and it is also cut to 1/2 inch thick so no need for a bandsaw / scroll saw either...
