Hello all...Ok who here is the paint guru? I have had a total melt down here. I had my 1st entry here at PDDR ready to be mounted and thought hummmmm maybe i should clear coat it to really make a nice looking car for this 1st time out. And guess what happened? Car WAS really sharp looking Daytona Yellow and Bright Blue with a nice little silver strip between the two colors. Then I shot a coat of clear on it and what do i see happen the whole car turns a dull whitish looking color and then my beautiful yellow and blue start to bubble up and crinkles. After 2.5 to 3 hour later its back to being orange and needing paint again. Can anyone tell me why this has happened? Hope I have time to get it back to the way it was and get it shipped off before its to late. Wish me luck guys......

Sounds like a reaction to the solvent in the clear.
Most rattle-cans are enamel. Enamels have a recoat window, go over and you can wait 7-21 DAYS before you can add another coat of color or clear.
Also, different brands can cause a reaction. Always try to stay with one brand of paint.
Sorry about your luck...

Same thing happened to me. I used Krylon color. Then after 3 days I wet sanded and shot Krylon clear. It looked good for about 60 seconds. Then crinkle city. I then waited only about 3 hours. Then I wet sanded it smooth again and shot the color. That turned out good. No I didn't try the clear again. So get to wet sanding with some 400 wet paper and paint it again. Good luck!

I had the exact same problem, used all Krylon paints, then added Krylon Clear Coat, got some milky white areas and then it orange pealed the entire car, decided against clear coat for the next round! I only had this happen on the plastic model, just wondering if the plastic had something to do with reacting to the paint and then the clear coat, never had this happen on a wooden car.

Mine messed up on wood. I did buy some water base clear to try over my enamel. I'm going to test it on an old car first. With my luck there will be some type of combustion!

Yeah.....paint problems kind of started out the Charger deal bad...and its just getting worse. My first entry just got delayed.
I have to go in for a operation and will have to wait to send in any cars.
O'well it will just give me more time to tweak them, maybe set a higher goal for myself. MID PACK lol.....
I will send in my Charger with the "SHOEBOX" class and see if they let me run it then..

Better yet - Send it in overnight just the way it is. Your recovery will be faster watching it race win or loose! This way you'll have a starting point to work from on speed. Last month was my first race here. It was the best butt whippin I ever had! I didn't know being last could be so fun!
