anyone able to give a comparison of 35' best-track times vs 42' times. I am a rookie here....we (kids + I) have won our scout pack last 2 years but not done well @ districts. We race May9 and are building and testing several combos... I just am not sure how far-off we are, or, maybe we are close to "fast" last couple of cars have been in the 2.58 to 2.59 range on our 35' BT. (best of 2.56)..... wonder if our district is that fast, or if cheating is rampant I KNOW...every track is a little diff. but can you guys translate any of this to "ballpark" range Thanks in advance !!
FYI---our last years times avg 2.59 (6 runs) on their track we ran the car on ours and it avg. 2.64 (18 runs) so we are faster this year BUT the top cars were in the 2.48 range on that other track, so....we need more

The slope of your track, preparation of the railing at the section joints, location of the starting pin, whether the track is permanently up or torn down frequently, and levelness of the track among other things create differences. You can send in one of your cars to PDDR so you'll have a base line for comparisons. It's especially nice if you cannot leave your track up all the time. Next time setting up your track, run the base car and you'll have your target time for your new cars.

Like you said all tracks are different, but on my 35"BT a low 2.53 will be a sub 3 on the PDDR track.Hope that helps You can also send a couple in and have them run

I have similar question. My boys cars placed 1st and 2nd in the derby this year in relatively small field (~40 cars). Their best times where between 2.2030 and 2.2120 on a 32' wood track. Would these cars have performed well on a PDDR track? Any ballpark numbers?

That formula would be fine IF the car is at a constant speed from start to finish, but that just isn't so. The car speeds up as it goes down the slope, and then slows down as it goes down the straight.

when a drag car sets a time going down the track it isnt moving as fast at the beginning as it is at the end. if it was moving as fast at the beginning as the end. then it would actually have a faster track time.. 2 peices of information that wont make the stats stand up 1. the type of track 2. the set up of that track either way average is average. and he wanted to know how to compare time.. and figuring out feet per second is the only way to know. Don't forget to factor in the Coriolis Effect.....

Hello i have a 35' bt and i ran two cars on my track which ran 2.543 to 2.545 and ran them sat night at LA Sounds track (PDDR) EAST COAST DERBY and they ran an avg time of 2.9733 and 2.9772. So maybe this will help you out. Just my two cents.
