I HAVE ALWAYS RAN CARS IN THE AWANA GRAND PRIX, AND HAVE ALWAYS JUST USED THE WHEELS THAT CAME WITH THE KIT. OF COURSE I DO A LIL MODIFING TO THEM. MY KIDS HAVE TAKEN 1ST AND 2ND THE LAST 4 YEARS. WHAT I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW, IS THE 1 GRAM WHEELS THAT MUCH FASTER AND CAN ANYONE GIVE ME AN IDEA OF HOW MUCH FASTER THEY ARE. ALSO I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW MORE ABOUT RAIL RIDING. WHAT ARE THE PROS AND CONS TO RAIL RIDING?

Well I don't know about the Awana wheels, but looking at the times here a pure stock wheel/car is getting 2.97's to 2.98's on average while a Super Stocker wheel (1g)/car is getting 2.92's to 2.93's on average. That gives you around 0.05 seconds difference, then you have to account for the relocated front wheel mostly everyone runs. I would say that is worth at least 0.01 to 0.015 seconds. So just guessing, I would say overall maybe somewhere around 0.03 to 0.04 seconds.
As for railriding, it is a technique of using one of your front wheels to steer into the rail slightly causing the car to run straighter and decreases wobble. When done properly, your car will not wobble at all or shouldn't anyways, you never can tell. You will of course have your other front wheel raised off the track. Remember, the shortest distance between two points is a straight line. Railriding helps you to get that straight line. You could probably do a search on the forum here and find more information on it that goes into more detail.
