Anyone curious about how cold temperatures will dampen the performance of Krytox, well here you go.
I was getting my Slammr ready for next months race ready and when I was out at the track working on it a few days ago we had a warm spell with the temps in the 60 to 70 degree range. I don't have heat where the track is, only in my little workshop. The temperature by the track is dependant on the outside temp. Anyways the temp that day was 67 degrees at the track and my Slammr was running 2.99's consistantly. I packed the car away. I went out last night and the temperature was in the 20's and the track temp was in the low 40's. The same car was 0.02 seconds slower, yet all the graphite cars were running the same speeds. We should be warming back up by the weekend and I would think the times would come back down once the oil warms a little. I sure hope Glenn pays his heating bill. ;D

LOL I do have an experimental oil designed to keep a constant viscosity all the way down to -40 F. I need to test it out before the winter is over. If it works, maybe I can beat this cold weather thing. You guys will have to pay alot more to get it colder at the PDDR Raceway. ;D

*********UPDATE********** The weather was back up into the 70's *** *** *** *** TODAY *** *** *** *** and I decided to get the cars all packed up before all the cold and rain sets in for the weekend. I placed the Slammr back on the track without doing anything to it and as Emeril would say " BAMM" 2.989. I think Glenn should install a heat lamp on the staging table to keep the oil cars under, or hit them with about a minute with the hairdryer prior to running. That would be fair wouldn't it. Anyways, the cars are on there way, store them by your closest heat vent Glenn.

I think I'm going to send a nice block of dry ice and ask Glenn to display you car on it.....its the only way I'll have a chance at sniffing a draft off your car. ;D
