Well the first race of the 2009 season is behind us....
Looking back over my racing/building career at PDDR I've found out some interesting things....
Viper R/T 10 placed 20th with a 3.0213 avg this past weekend. That time would have been 2nd place in Feb '07 !!! I would have even beaten 2fast4u !!
The coveted Sub-3 run was first done by Leo/234 Racing in Mar '07 with a 2.9960
234 Racing was first also to have the 6-run avg in June '07 with 2.9882 , the only car with a sub-3 avg. To Day (Feb '09) we have 14 cars that average less than 3 seconds !!
Each of my cars, SuperBee-'Cuda-Viper, have gotten better. I say thanks to everyone here who have helped me with advice and encouragement.
Now I need to find Mr. Sherman and borrow his "way-back" machine..........

I’ve often wondered about this phenomenon….Glenn or David, maybe you could chime in on the subject. Has the PDDR track been fine tuned or improved to allow these faster times? I know that the times are way more consistent. For example; as FAST mentioned, Leo broke the 3.0 barrier in March ’07, but his times ranged from 2.996 to 3.032 (.036 difference) This month my car was between 2.989 and 2.993 (.004). I think everyone in the top ten was within .012 from their slowest to fastest times. Is this due to the ESS staring system? In March 07, the gate was dropped manually. I wish Pepto was still around….that car was awesome. I’d like to see how *** *** TODAY *** ***’s cars do against it.

I have also wondered about that. I remember seeing Jewkes car "Outburst" running as slow as 3.058 before, now I've seen that car run a 2.978 or something like that. I can't believe that car has improved a whole .070!!!! That is amazing. No one pays more attention to detail like they do, so I can't believe they could slip that much.

No one pays more attention to detail like they do, so I can't believe they could slip that much. when outburst started out it was a straight axle car, front and back. no cant... I then started to play with it, I canted the rear wheels and improved the speed of the car to 3.00's then I put a positive cant on the front dom wheel which got the car to run sub three's 2.99's then from there it was just a matter of new wheels different axles and playing with the alignment... I think you are right that it went a 2.978... the car is lead powered and i think it runs an ave of 2.98's now... I have not ran the car for awhile... my dad has the car using it to put on how to build work shops... it is on its way back to pddr to run against a scout car that challenged it.... you will see video soon... The proto of the ESS was introduced may or june of 2007... the track is aways being check and to be made better... With the ESS pulling the lever the same every time and more consistant than a human can the cars have been able to run more consistant... I think the track is a little faster than when we first started but not that much... I think when we lifted the track off the floor is when it speed up and it has been really close to the same from then on out... Glenn

Leo's car was set up for speed it could run a fast time or it could go in to a wobble of death... that is what it did in some of his runs... you would have to go watch the video and you will see the car get a little side ways... which will kill the times... just ask Carolina from Saturdays race... his car would ether run like the wind or touch every wheel down the track... john sorry to use you as an example but it was a good one... Waite till you see the slow mo video... Glenn
