Hello all, my family and I moved from one side of the Salt Lake valley to the other after Christmas and before New Year's. Well we show up for our first day of new scouts with my 10yo and 8yo and wouldn't you know it the annual pinewood derby was in two weeks (last night). This would have been fine at any other time but, the first week I was working in San Diego and the second week I was ill. So we finally got their cars roughed out the night before and added weight hours before the race. I was a little nervous since last year I totally screwed up and my then 9yo's car didn't even finish 1 run.
Well, it turns out that I have actually learned some tricks here as they finished 1st and 5th out of the whole pack. The first place car never lost and according to the guy running the computer never ran slower than 2.85 on a wood track about 30 some odd feet long. The fifth place car only won 1 race as he ran with his brother's car the other three times.
