Anyone else ever got different time results from different tubes of Hob-e-lube? I was running with my old tube of hob-e lube and getting 2.98's. I then went to a brand new tube and got 2.99's. I then went back to old tube and got 2.98's again.

wow i Have not seen this... I thought it was odd myself. There was about 0.015 sec difference between the two tubes. I wonder if there could be variation/differences between the lots where the stuff is manufactured? When I get my XRF Spectrometer back up and running, I'll do an analysis on the two and see how they stack up as far as chemical composition. Maybe one has more of something in it than the other.

Do you rally have an XRF Spectrometer?

Do you rally have an XRF Spectrometer? Got one at work, since I'm the only one who knows how to run it, I call it mine. ;D The graphites by the way, checked out to be identical in chemical composition. As to why one tube was slower than the other I have no clue. Even to this day, that tube is slower.

Carolina,
Do you know what the other compound used in the Hob-E-Lube is besides the molybdenum?

I'll take some with me tomorrow and see. It's been so long ago since I did it, I can't remember.

I ran the HEL and got basically the following chemical make-up C (carbon) - 57.5 % Mo (Moly) - 28.5 % Fe (Iron) - 5 % The other 9 % was basically Alumina, Silica and Sulfur. I ran my graphite I use and it's not Tube-o-lube or Max V or Pinewood Extreme or Hodges. I haven't seen it offered on any PWD site or never ever heard or read of it being used. C (carbon) - 73.5 % Mo (Moly) - 5 % Fe (Iron) - 11 % The other 10 % was basically Alumina, Silica and Sulfur. I seems mine has more Carbon and less Moly. Now If we only knew what the ideal mix of carbon to moly was.
