I was spraying the 3rd coat of clear when my compressor died. I still had enough clear for at least 2 more coats. I was painting a new car for next year. My question is when I get a new compressor, which could be a few days to 2 - 3 weeks, can I go back and add a couple of coats of clear? Or is this it? It didn't look to bad, but I think the extra coats would look a little better.

I am sure paint nija will join in, but what I have watched him do is sand the clear then shoot more clear on it... you should be fine to add the paint...

I checked the car this morning and I looked really good. I still think a couple of more coats would have looked a little better but I'll just go with how it looks now. My wife has been asking me about some ideas for a christmas gift and I told her not to worry about it, I didn't need anything. Well now I have a good idea for her, a new air compressor. I was painting my 69 Charger for next year and man that is one mean looking car.

I like to use product #222 from Duponte it aids bonding from coat to coat from new to old and new to new if sitting for a bit of time.

It's a House of Kolor clear. I believe it's UC 35. So far I haven't had any problems with it. I bought a whole package of premixed HOK paints ready to spray (about 15 different colors) and the clear, catalyst and reducer came with it.

I use house of kolor uc35 and I haven't had a problem with clearing over clear after a few weeks. I sand it with 400 grit sand paper and then re clear. I haven't had any problems yet.

I've looked at a couple of different ones and wondering if anyone knows much about the difference between the tankless compressor and one with a tank?
I'm tending to lean towards the one with a tank, seems you would have a constant pressure and no pulsating in air pressure. My old compressor was tankless and the air pressure seemed to pulsate.

one with a tank would give you a constant steady pressure

I'm looking as well and have the same understanding as you. An additional two factors I'm going by is getting the most horsepower with quiet operation. The model I'm currently considering is 1/3HP and a 3.5L tank.

That is slightly larger than the one I was looking at. Go to www.TCPGlobal.com and have a look around at all the compressors they have. I buy my HOK paints from them and they ship stuff out super fast. I liked the TC-20T compressor, 2.5 L tank and only 59 dBs. Should be really quiet.
