Question on Door Slammr rules:
I am thinking of building a funny car (i.e. chassis underneath, raisable body), probably using a Vett coupe "canopy" from a model kit I already have in my shop. Haven't figured out exactly how (or when) I'm gonna get it done, but it would be stretching a couple sets of rules for which I am requesting clarification / dispensation:
1b. No bushing, bearings, sleeves, inserts inside or attached to the wheels, Axles or the body in anyway.
The wood chassis would likely have a piece of tubing running the entire width behind the rear wheels, with a 2nd piece of tubing of the adjacent smaller size running through the first and providing the hinge mount for the body.
The following Modifications are Forbidden :
G. Loose objects on car
H. No Bushings allowed
J. No moving weights or parts
Already mentioned the bushing / hinge setup above. The body could also be construed as "loose" i.e. it could be lifted to expose the chassis (and big giant mock chrome engine!!! - maybe a Hemi for F.A.S.T) underneath. I would come up with some method to snap / secure it in the down position for the ride down the track.
Any thoughts or comments? I'll build it either way, just curious if I could slip it in for a race or if it's a little too much ;D
Bubba
p.s. Probably won't get to it for a couple months (Scout Season), anybody can feel free to steal the idea, run with it, and post pictures so that I can steal some of your ideas in return LOL
