I've been lagging lately trying to get into the racing spirit. Family, Scouts and other things have taken up lots of time. The first part of the year is always a tough time to squeeze in my hobby. Hopefully by May, things will be back to a normal pace. I have managed to build a new Stocker and a Pure Stocker out of cedar and boy does it make some nice looking cars. I plan on getting these ready by May for the CCRL Dash for Cash along with a few more. I got my work cut out for me with Downslope and 6DB burning up the track. ;D

Wow - of all the recent "exotic" woods - the cedar looks the best to me. I'm sure it's the most aromatic as well. This is a car you wife will allow you to store in her closet.
I may have to build one of these....

Like the use of Cedar (something not pine) Cedar has some wonderful grain and colors. Have you thought about your finish? Wax? Danish Oil? How about a tinted clear Poly or Shelac? Also, if I could ask. Why not cover the inside of the wheel where they are hollow? Let the air slip by.

I keep coming back and looking at this car and I realized why. It's obvious that ceder is much better used for a pinewood derby car than a dresser or a bedside table.

I rubbed them down in light Tung oil. It made the darker areas turn a nice reddish tint. I have done several cars where I covered the wheels, but these I just decided to leave open. I will say these are the best smelling cars I have. ;D
