First, let me say I've been reading all the posts and there is a lot of great information on this site and so much to learn. This seems to be the only place to go to learn the right way to build a "Winning" Pinewood Derby Car.
I'm getting ready to help my son build a pine wood derby car. I do have a question and hope you can help. In the rules it say "only official wheels are allowed. All markings must be intact on the inside and outside of the wheel. Does that mean I can't use the BSA wheels on this site which still have all the markings on them?
Also, for the axles it calls for "nail type axles as found in the official Pinewood Derby kit are to be used". Would we be able to use the BSA axles also listed on this site?
Thanks, in advance for your help.

Just my two cents but without them removing the axels from the car you probably cant tell the difference as far as wheels go the pure stockers from ___ are "BSA official wheels" that are just hooked up some. So in my eyes they would be legal. I have run them in Scouts for years

Thanks for the fast reply. So I take it that it would be fine to use some other wheels that still have all the stock markings on them. As I was reading saw some folks talking about "canting" a wheels". What is canting?

Thanks for the input. I'm going to be using The Block to drill the axel holes? What is the right size drill to use with the BSA axel. I see two different size drills a #43 and #44? Are they for different types of axels?
There sure is a big learning curve, but it looks to be a lot of fun. On a different note does someone have a 3.6 sweet spot they would like to sell, I'd be interested. Is there a place on this forum for Derby stuff for folks want to sell or buy items?

You want the 44 for official BSA axles.
