Ok, Need help badly. Sent my cars on Monday. Cars are at the local post office in David's area. Thing is, the morons at USPS WON'T DELIVER the PACKAGE WITHOUT SOMEONE THERE TO SIGN FOR IT it seems. Here is the info from their page: Label/Receipt Number: 9406 2036 9930 0006 7706 90 Class: Priority Mail® Service(s): Delivery Confirmation™ Insured Status: Notice Left We attempted to deliver your item at 3:57 pm on October 14, 2010 in SALT LAKE CITY, UT 84120 and a notice was left. You may pick up the item at the Post Office indicated on the notice, go to www.usps.com/redelivery, or call 800-ASK-USPS to arrange for redelivery. If this item is unclaimed after 15 days then it will be returned to the sender. Information, if available, is updated periodically throughout the day. Please check again later. Detailed Results: Notice Left, October 14, 2010, 3:57 pm, SALT LAKE CITY, UT 84120 Arrival at Post Office, October 14, 2010, 4:42 am, SALT LAKE CITY, UT 84120 Processed through Sort Facility, October 14, 2010, 12:13 am, SALT LAKE CITY, UT 84199 Processed through Sort Facility, October 12, 2010, 6:43 pm, ROMULUS, MI 48174 Electronic Shipping Info Received, October 11, 2010 I DID NOT select signature required when making the label, just delivery confirmation and insurance. Now what the hell happens? I have no idea if anyone will have time to actually get the f'in cars. That isn't their problem. It's why we don't select signature required!! I don't know why they want someone to sign for them.

You need to call your that post office and talk to the postmaster. You may get it delivered today or tomorrow. Call the 1-800 number and they will tell you the actual phone number. Go here usps.whitepages.com/post_office/ut/84120

I had the same mail carrier for over 30 years. She was the kind to pull her car to the house for a little visit with the family. She got homemade cookies, cards and gifts from a lot of people. You could put letters in the mail with postage money and they would get mailed. If you missed a stamp she would put one on for you. Now since she's retired everything has went to crap. The ONLY business that cares is PDDR. To bad they don't deliver the mail

Unfortuantely you have to wave the signature. Signature is the default.
Perhaps a local racer would be willing to run to the post office for you?

Just re-read your post and for Priority signature is not the default. Make sure you mention that to the postmaster and have them remove the signature required portion of it bef ore re-delivering

Wish they would have updated their info last night. I didn't get the update with the info about a notice until this morning. I would have posted and pm David last night if I had seen it.

Well after finally getting through, they will not delivery without a signature.
It seems since the value of the package is over $200, they MUST have a signature. Being the sender, I can not waive it or reduce the amount at this point.
So they will not do anything.
I just have to hope that someone has time to pick it up from the post office.

I haven't had a problem with delivery. Maybe because I decline the delivery confirmation? I hope my car made it though...

Zeebzob,
You can only hope that the route it is taking is just due to the way the planes worked out to get the package to Utah.
I have no idea what logic they use sometimes, ok most times, for routing packages.
There is a number you can call to ask for info on your package. Maybe they can explain why it is in Alaska.
From the USPS website: Track & Confirm Customer Assistance can be reached at 1-800-222-1811.

If you know which post office it is at, (address) I can run over and pick your car up this afternoon and bring it with me to the race tomorrow. Will the post office let anybody sign for it? Do I need some kind of a number? Happy to do it.

If you know which post office it is at, (address) I can run over and pick your car up this afternoon and bring it with me to the race tomorrow. Will the post office let anybody sign for it? Do I need some kind of a number? Happy to do it. It's at the West Valley post office from what I have gathered. WEST VALLEY 3490 S 4400 W SALT LAKE CITY, UT 84120-9998 (800) ASK-USPS I believe you would need the orange notice though that they leave at the house when they attempt to deliver and no one is there. No idea on how to get that to you. The guy at the post office was kind of a snot. He seemed to think I was trying to setup an insurance claim on the package. Kept telling him I didn't select nor want a signature since I knew no one would be available to do so. He just kept saying that what if someone were to steal the package from the porch. Even said I would like to drop the insurance from the package then, said I couldn't do that. The label number I have is the one that is listed on the post with the detailed info from USPS' site.

I have been trying to make contact with David Jewkes, but so far no luck. I'll do what I can.
