Being self employed it's tough to find the time and extra cash to take a vacation. The last time was 7 years ago. I had to get my priorities in order before we could go. I had to make sure I had my tungsten, axles, wheels and tools to build these little cars first! So this morning we leave for Miramar beach Florida. There I will practice my other hobby - metal detecting. I plan to get some serious coil swinging time while my kids check out the girls. My wife knows I'm too old to do anything so I look too! LOL I'll try to hook up my computer in our room just in case anyone needs professional advice on exactly how to slow down your cars. Kenny

I just got back last night about 10pm. I found about $10 in change and three rings. Just one of the rings was silver though. Not enough to pay for vacation. We did drive back through the birthplace of Pinewood cars - There it was on a big sign. "Your now entering the Pine belt" It spanned thousands of acres. Pine trees and logging companies all over! I could hear the Pines screaming to be chosen to race at PDDR! Now I have to get busy and make some more cars!

Depends on what and where your hunting? I've been using and selling detectors for 25 years. Whites and Garrett machines. I can tell you that you don't need the most expensive machines to find the good stuff. Detector sales are really just another hobby and I make my money remodeling old houses.

i picked one up at harbor tools tried it once dint find the weight i think i lost but found washer and screw. and i see its like pwd racing always something more is needed to get (like little hand held rake, earphones, and some rope so you can also grid area) if i would have had detector day after i lost weight i think i would have found it. thanks for getting me into another fine hobby. do you use it in the old houses to find the lost silver?

Don't let a Harbor Freight machine douse you spirits. You need to buy a better detector for more enjoyment. I never needed a string to grid an area. A good digger is nice. Maybe an electronic pinpointer too? For about $225 you can buy a good Whites or Garrett.
