If you are running a positive cant on your FDW and your rear wheels are running a negative cant. Do you still need to shave the 1/16" to 1/8" of off the FDW body side?

Yes you should remove at least a 1/16 from the front dominant side so as to have the clearance on the rear wheels.

Thanks Bones, I've only built two rail riders and I wasn't sure if it was needed with the +/- cants on the front and back wheels. Some of the PDDR cars do not look they are shaved on the FDW side.

I mark a line that is about a 1/16" to 3/32" (give or take) from the side of the car at the FDW. This line goes from the front of the car all the way back to 5/8" past my FDW axle hole. From that 5/8" mark, I draw a line all the way back to another mark that is 5/8" in front of the rear axle hole. I use my upright 1" belt sander to sand down to my marks. When finished, the car will be 1/16" narrow at the front and then gradually widen as it goes to the back. When the car is completed, it all blends in and looks normal.
