Would there happen to be any rules against using different kinds wood besides pine in the stock class.

pure stock is the only class you have to only pine; I think

Pine-Pro (RA wide wheel) d. Awana wide wheel. e. The main part of the body must be made of Wood. f. Car must have 4 wheels and 4 Axles.

What I have told the people at church that have gotten more involved with the awana grand prix is that the base of the cars should be made of the pine block that came in the kit however you could decorate it as you like as long as it stayed in the overall dimensions. i. e. adding lead tailpipes, plastic figures, and other decorations. So to me adding balsa to a wedge car to make fenders or a complete body is fine. Its a lot like a slammer. Besides balsa is a whole lot quicker to shape and with the right sealer it is pretty resistant to nicks and bumps of racing. The Mcqueen car was built in this manner. A pine wedge with balsa build up body. We could have done a much better job on the car but with how busy we were Mcqueen was completed in three weeks of after school/work evenings. I'm still not totally convinced that wind resistance in a smooth car is as important as wheels and axles. My two cents
