i purchased the single lane test track from best and I'm hoping there is some suggestions on the joints and how to get them smoother.
1) do you sand or file them ? 2) do you use the spring clamps or would you drill new holes and bolt them together with the angle clips ?
thanks in advanced

I sanded mine......... started with 220 grit wet/dry on a sanding block (scrap pinewood body piece) went to 400, 600, 800, 1000, 1500 and ended with 2000 grit wet/dry. DON'T FORGET THE OUTSIDE OF THE GUIDE RAILS..........Lots of work but I like it.
Use the spring clips. I tried drilling the angles and bolting them together, if the bolts are too tight, it opens the joint, bolts too loose and you have play in the track. Springs work just fine.
Good Luck,
Dice

What I would suggest doing is installing the remaining alignment pins in the same manner, which is at the trailing end of track section regardless of whether it is the transition or not. When the pins are installed this way it causes the end of the track that has the pin installed in it to be slightly higher than the section of track below it,the car will transition smoothly off this little ledge. If you install the pins as per the instructions after the transition you will be creating the same ledge, but the car will have to roll up it ,not off of it.This bump up will be quite noticeable and will take a lot of effort to remedy,You will find it much easier to just install the pins the other way. From this point the track is very easy to fine tune and then set up subsequently.Hope this helps.
