I've been fooling around with my new toy... THE BLOCK
Drilled a few blanks to get the "feel" of it. Didn't shape the blanks just added a set of known fast wheels/axles & a 70gram weight.
Rolled them down my alignment board..... they tracked perfectly. Took about 15 minutes for me to set up the turn in for rail riding. Easiest it's ever been for me.
Now I know cars act different at speed. But I am impressed with this new tool !
Just one thing.. take the time to square/plumb your drill press & table. If the table is not perfectly square to the drill chuck, NO TOOL will let you drill straight & parallel holes.
Maybe I'll get to join the "Sub-3 Club" ;D

THANK YOU FOR THE NICE WORDS FAST... JUST TO LET YOU KNOW, THAT THE BLOCK CAN HELP YOU SQUARE UP YOUR DRILL PRESS AS WELL... JUST CHUCK UP A DRILL BIT THAT WILL NOT FLEX AND SPIN THE BLOCK ALL THE WAY AROUND IT ON THE TABLE AND YOU CAN SEE IF THE THE TABLE IS OUT OF SQUARE IF IT IS JUST ADJUST THE TABLE UNTIL IT IS SQUARE WITH THE BLOCK IN ALL DIRECTION... WHOOPS I JUST SHOWED HOW THE BLOCK IS USED FOR ANOTHER TOOL... SINCE I AM ON A ROLL IF YOU ONLY HAVE A THIN PIECE OF PINE WOOD LEFT THAT IS LESS THAN A 1/2 OF AN INCH, HERE IS ANOTHER USE FOR THE BLOCK... DRAW UP YOUR SIDE PROFILE OF YOUR CAR THEN SLIDE IT INTO THE BLOCK, LAY THE BLOCK ON YOUR BAND SAW AND YOU CAN CUT YOUR SIDE PROFILE OUT PERFECT.

I'll give you my first experience with "The Block". I finished my Limited car for the BGN race and it was the first car I drilled using the "block". It was just as easy as seen in LA's video. I put the wheels on the car and with NO tuning board adjustments, I tied my track record of 2.975 on the 4th run. I only made 2 adjustments to the front wheel and I never touched the rear axles once. I have never dialed a car in that fast. I will never build another car without it. ;D

I picked up The Block recently. From the video and reading posts, it seems like the 3 wheel setup is to cant the rear wheels and the raised front wheel. The front dominant wheel axle hole is drilled straight and its axle is bent for steering.
For our 2008 BSA district race, the rules required a 4 wheel setup. Assuming our 2009 rules will be the same, should I drill both front axle holes straight? Then determine which wheel is the dominant wheel and bend its axle for steering while leaving the other front axle alone? Or should I cant it?
