Week of Sept 18 We all want to live life to the fullest and make our lives count for something. We don't want to waste our lives. We want to wake up each morning with a purpose. The problem is that somewhere along the line we got absorbed into this crazy, chaotic lifestyle that drains us of the very life we desire. As followers of Christ, we have an incredible new identity. We are forgiven, we're clean. We've been adopted by the King of kings. But what do we do with it? We've got to have a hunger to experience the life God designed us to live. There is more to this life than living and dying; more than trying to make it on your own. Everything in us knows we need to take a risk on God's plan. To get out of the boat and start walking toward Jesus. But Jesus immediately said to them: "Take courage ! It is I Don't be afraid." "Lord, if it's you," Peter replied, "tell me to come to you on the water." "Come," Jesus said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus.

Week of Oct 2 When you feel like giving up and you start to feel sorry for yourself, and you get discouraged and have a pity party, stop and think about what Jesus endured for you. Think about the attacks and the criticism he went through. Think about the abuse and cruelty he experienced not for his benefit, but for yours. You may be facing some very real, discouraging challenges in your life. But what you are really going through is a test of your faith. It's easy to trust God when everything is going your way. It's tough to trust Him when you've been out of work for a year or longer. It's tough to trust Him when you don't know where you will get the money to make ends meet. It's tough to trust God when somebody you depend on has walked out of your life. But these are tests. What are you being tested in right now? Are you going to give up, or are you going to persevere? Whatever it is, trust God to help you through so you can pass the test.
Think of all the hostility he endured from sinful people; then you won't become weary and give up. After all, you have not yet given your lives in your struggle against sin.

Week of Nov 4 We have one shot at this life. Just one... What story will your life tell? Time stretches out in only one direction, and there is no chance to rewind the tape and do it over again. I believe that in the heart of every man is the desire to leave something lasting- something that will point to a life well lived. I also believe that in the heart of a Christian man is the desire to do something even greater- the desire to impact eternity. We have a built-in desire to know that our lives have meaning and purpose. It's part of God's blueprint for our lives, and it is reinforced by the Holy Spirit telling us that life is too important to waste on insignificant things. Since we have just one shot to live our lives, we must live lives of faith at full speed. Our lives will leave a legacy. We will leave behind a life that will impact others for eternity. Our lives will send ripples into the lives of countless others. That's a simple fact. We will leave a legacy, but what kind of a legacy will it be? By walking in intimate fellowship with Jesus Christ, we can listen, hear, and obey. We hold to our plans loosely, allowing Him to lead us step-by-step. If we listen, trust, and follow His Word, a life of meaning and purpose will stretch out before us. Our children and friends will see it. Our communities will be better for it. And the contour of eternity will be different because of it.
