i am wanting to jump into this class, and am wondering...i found a model online i want to buy but dont know if it is going to meet the 9" requirement. is there a way to know? it was a standard production car in the 1970 model year. i would hate to buy it and not be able to run it. bri

The model I bought had the measurements on the box. Most 1/25 and 1/24 scale stuff meets the requirements. Some late 70's era mopar cars were too big that I saw.

the easiest thing to do is look up the length of the real car on the web and then divide that by 24 or 25 depending on the scale of the model.

the cars websight says it was 226.5" long, a 1/25 kit would then be 9.06" long. thats only 3/8" too long, if i leave the rear bumper off it should fit. think i will give it a try.

actually i have the opp. problem, looks like it might be .06 too long. but if i leave off the rear bumper it will be fine. i would just come out and say what car it is, but i would rather keep it under my hat for now. lets just say i may have found the secrete needed for super speed... ;D ;D

it was made from 1969 to 1970, 2000 per year. 2 companys made ALMOST the same car, NASCAR banned it and they sell north of $200,000 *** TODAY ***. no more clues, some one will figure it out from the above.

I was gonna do a superbird, but I opted to recreate in miniature a car I built when I was a kid. 83 t-bird with a 429. I guess this one won't have the big block. Just came in the mail 2day. Got my stuff from ___ 2day too. Talk about fast shipping, I only ordered it Friday.

Probably, just take the wing off the rear. You don't need the down force, unless you are planing to make a left turn. Wouldn't removal of the wing constitute "chopping up or hacking the body" of the car. Along the same lines as making it a convertible? I don't think the car was available with the Daytona/Superbird "nose cone"...yet without the "wing"? Just saying A.T.

A.T. you bring about an excellent point. i have been thinking about that exact thing all week. is leaving a part (of the model) out considered chopping or hacking it out?? i would need to leave the bumper off to make the 9" length requirement. would that be any different? the only way to know for sure is to just send it. i guess i am asking the rule gods ;D come on Glen give us a ruling on this.
1) if i run this car, a 1969 or 1970 Dodge Daytona or a 1970 Plymoth Superbird can i neglect to add the wing?
2) the overall length of said model is 9.06 inch. yes that is 6 hundreth over the 9 inch limit. can i just leave the rear bumper off making it 8.95 inches long.??
Of course i want it to go my way, but life is life, in this case i would rather ask for permission than beg for forgiveness.( usually its the other way around.) ;D ;D
thanks for the comments! bri

Just build it it should be ok...
You dont need the wing if you dont want...
Thats not hacking it up.
