;D I'm brand new to the forum, but I have to say...this is a great way to get great ideas!!! I have the "Big Kids Race" title to defend this year, and I have a feeling that there are more than just a few that are looking to knock me off my throne!! I'm going to pose our 'Mad Max' rules and I'd love to hear your ideas about I can build an 'affordable' repete winner this year... The Rules: 1) 10 oz weight limit 2) dry lube only 3) anything goes with the wheels 4) cant interfere with any other cars... Please feel free to send your pics and let me know your ideas!! I DO NEED YOUR HELP!! Thanks! ;D

There's nothing that says I can't...I am planning to use the XRS wheels - at least I think that's what their called...very thin with lots of holes in them.
Is there such a thing as putting on too much weight? i.e. if there is a 10 oz. limit am I better to race at 9 oz. or even 7 or 8 oz.?

I guess it depends on how much money you are willing to put into it. If there were no rules on wheels I would order some of the Jewkes bearing wheels. I would also use a fan on top of the car. Is there a rules as to how long the car can be? I would put the wheels all the way to the corners. I would also try to limit the weight to around 7 onces. Just some thoughts.

Great recommendations...and great Video!! ;D
One rule I forgot to mention is that gravity is the only propulsion device allowed.
I've settled on a few things: 1) Dimensions: 9.5 in long 2) RSX Racing Wheels and Thunderbolt Speed Axles
It was mentioned that 7 oz. weight was best...how about for a 9.5 in car?? I'd like to put berings on the wheels...but not too sure if that's possible with these wheels.

Good point. We have a pretty old track and I have some close up pictures of cars at the starting gate...it appears that there's at least 3" behind the cars.
Thoughts on weight & where I ought to put the center of gravity - meaning do I still target 3/4" in front of the rear wheel or do I move that forward a bit?

Any assistance here would be a great Help!!!
How about weight: W Racing mentioned that 7 oz. may be better that 10 oz. and I can go up to 10 oz, but I know that more is not always better.... any additional thoughts??
BTW...I'm designing an 8 1/2" car that will look like a funny car - Thanks for the recommendation 5 Kids Racing!!!!!!!!!
WOW there's a lot I have to learn!!

Thanks so much W & 5 Kids...I'm working on it now ;D. I really do appreciate you helping me out like you have! One more question...for now...where can I go to learn more on how to 'tune' the car? I don't have a track, but I do have a good work shop . I hope my competition isn't reading this! I'll post Pics as I go along. Thanks for your help...so far!

I think the 7 oz was for a car running on needles... 9 would likely be fine if no needle axles...
Purchase a 4 foot shelf (Wood grain or white) from lowes or home depot for a tuning board to tune the steer...
Are you running the rail? If so how are you handling that...

I am running a rail, but I'm not too sure what you mean by how am I handeling that? How should I handle it? Is there some type of setup on the car that'll help me run better? Again...I'm"thenovice" for a reason Thanks W

My mod Cocoa Beach turns way too much... ;D
I would say 3" in 4 feet is a tad too much... Maybe 2.5" in 4 feet.
