I got my first non-pine car finished and ready for weight, wheels and axles. It's made from mahogany and has 4 coats of light Tung oil hand rubbed in. No fenders on this one. There should be some more exotic wood cars in the pipeline down the road. ;D

Wow Carolina, that's beautiful! How thin is this car? It looks like 1/8". How will you get enough weight into it?

Wow Carolina, that's beautiful! How thin is this car? It looks like 1/8". How will you get enough weight into it? It's actually a little more than a 1/4" thick in the rear and then tapers down. The 1/4" tungsten cubes fit nicely in it. No problem putting in weight.

John Great seeing someone else try mahogany to make cars out of. I being using it for a couple of years now, I like the way it drills not much drill bit walk, plus weight is about the same as pine. Again great looking car.

Very nice!!! Any chance of getting a pic of the under side? I'm curious on how you guys put weight in such a thin profile car.

here is an example of getting cars that thin and still weighting them.. one is lead horsepower and one is tungsten horsepower the tungsten one has a clear film covering the entire bottom of the car body for aerodynamic effect since much of it is routered out. there you are now that the rest of the story
