The last time I was at LA's place, his track had a wonderful shine to it. He said it took a lot of elbow grease and rubbing/polishing by hand to get it that way. Well, now that we have a little break, I decided to start on mine last night and I can see this is going to take some time. I didn't know 42 ft looked so long until I got started. What little bit I did however, looks fantastic!!! ;D

We have a mothers cone that attaches to a drill to polish the track with mothers mag, works pretty good.

What are you using to clean/polish the track? I can understand wanting to make it shiny for appearance, but I would also think that you wouldn't want to make it too slippery? Thanks I'm using Mother's Billet and several cotton towels/rags.

Here is a quick video showing the difference in the polished and unpolished parts of the track.
I still have to finish the outside lane. I plan on doing a short video showing sanding of the joints and also how I polished it. Maybe it will be of some use to some folks out there.

Nice job Carolina! I can see where your times would pick up since the DOM rail is polished. But also see that you could generate a wobble since your rear wheels don't bite as much. Are your cars running great on that mirror?

The only thing I had to order was the levelers, they came from Rocklers. I had the lumber and U brackets. I think it took 10 boards, 24 levelers and 20 U brackets. I have a leveler/support brace every 3 1/2 ft.

Are your cars running great on that mirror? They run great!!!! I had a pure stocker I was playing around with for next year and it was running a 2.945 avg before polishing. Now, it's running a 2.936 avg. I will be glad when the cars get back so I can see how they react. ;D

I use a polish from SPEEDWAY MOTORS called MFX!!! Its the real easy to shine up by hand. just a dab is all it take to clean it and use a clean terry towel to shine it right back off. I have to do it everyyear cuz our district track gets used by 7 differents packs each season and it tends to get disrespected while its gettn swapped around.
