I was snooping around at work and found some 40 durometer silicone pads that are about 1/2" thick and about a foot in diameter. I got 4 of them and plan on cutting 3" square pieces and putting them under the feet of the levelers on the track. The whole track will then be sitting on a nice soft cushion. Does it sound worth while or a waste of time?

I would think that anything that maintains the support yet adds additional cushioning would be worth trying.
With the added consistency obtained by reducing vibrations generated by the start gate, taking it out of the track has to help.
Hell, didn't you guys determine that cars running next to each other actually slow themselves down a bit due to the vibrations in the track they cause? Hence why some of the times folks see when testing are different than when racing, single car to multiple.

I think it would be alright as Long as it don't put any spring in the track in the transition from the slope to the flat section; I read somewhere the amount of down force there is on a car in curve section it was surprising how much 5oz. multiples to
